Healthcare Improvement Scotland is currently hosting an exciting line up of monthly WebEx sessions presented by an exceptional global faculty. Our Chief Executive, Professor Maxine Power, has been invited to lead a WebEx on taking improvement to scale in 2016. She joins a line up of national and international leaders in quality improvement as part of the Healthcare Improvement Scotland WebEx series.
Maxine’s session is proving to be very popular with the second highest number of bookings with almost 200 sign ups already from 47 countries!
At the end of February 2016, the Children and Young Persons Safety Briefing was launched. Developed by two leading international children’s hospitals, Queensland Children’s Health Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, Australia and Birmingham Children’s Hospital, England with creative support and development from Haelo. Three months since the launch, it’s great to see the Children and Young Person’s Safety Briefing being implemented and celebrated. Delivered by Haelo and The Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network, this one-year Breakthrough Series Collaborative (BTS) coaches teams, using improvement science, on how to help make Greater Manchester the safest place in the world to administer and take medicines.
This film shows in depth, the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust team’s work on creating a more accurate medicines reconciliation sheet; helping to reduce medication errors across their district. This film has been produced by Haelo and commissioned by the Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network (GM AHSN). It was first premiered at the Improving Medicines Safety Summit in April of 2016.
April has been another busy month for recruitment at Haelo with three new starters joining the team.
Rachel Volland joins us as Senior Programme & Quality Improvement Lead / Deputy Associate Director of Programmes managing a portfolio of Programmes including Dementia United and Quality Improvement projects to organisations across the UK. Jacob Walker, Project Assistant, who will provide support to various programmes, in particular, the NHS Quest network, IS4 and PrISMS and Catherine Qualtrough, Knowledge Management Assistant, who will supporting the knowledge function by focusing on how knowledge from the various healthcare improvement programmes that Haelo delivers is captured, packaged, stored and then shared to a variety of audiences across the region and beyond.

We are recruiting an Improvement Fellow to join our growing team! Junior Doctor Stuart Holmes (pictured below) recently completed a successful four month placement with our Science and Capability team. Haelo seeks to develop a cadre of junior doctors who can lead Quality Improvement (QI) in the NHS in the North West of England with a Fellows programme.
