We bid a fond farewell to the Mayo Building at Salford Royal which has been our home for the past 3 and a half years. We’ll miss our old HQ but onwards and upwards to the bright lights of Media City and The Victoria.

As we start our second week at The Victoria, Media City, our Chief Executive Professor Maxine Power reflects on Haelo’s humble beginnings and the potential for the future.

So we’ve done it! We’ve moved Haelo into its new home in Media City at Salford Quays. We were all sad to leave the Mayo Building at Salford Royal, a special place that we have called home for the last three years and an environment treasured most for how ‘intimate’ it was. We were really close to great friends and colleagues in clinical practice, improvement, leadership and operational management. We are hoping you’ll come over and see us in our new place really soon? There is an open invitation to all our friends to drop in anytime. We are right opposite the Harbour Quay tram stop on the ground floor of the Victoria Building. It’s really easy to get here on the tram, on foot or by car. We have easy access to the multi story car park opposite – so no excuses!

We look forward to welcoming you to our new offices soon!

Safer Salfordssno

Beginning in April 2016, Salford partners; Salford Clinical Commissioning Group, Salford City Council,Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Haelo, embarked on an ambitious improvement programme to make Salford the safest health and social care system in the UK.

Over the next 2 years, health and care partners across Salford will build on learning from the successful Making Safety Visible programme. The Safer Salford website is now live and you can also follow Safer Salford on Twitter.

Safer Leadership developed and working with partners aims to inspire leaders across Salford to think and act differently to bring about city wide change. Changing how we think, so we can change how we act. Using the Measurement and Monitoring of Safety Framework, leaders will be challenged to reframe their perception of safety by assessing the health and care system through three lenses, Past, Present and Future. The Safer Leadership programme held its first Learning Session on the 27th October. PrISMS (Practices Improving the Safety of Medicines in Salford) is a Breakthrough Series (BTS) Collaborative designed to improve medication safety in primary care in Salford, commissioned by Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and delivered jointly by the CCG and Haelo.

Eight Salford based GP practices have signed up to take part in this programme of work, with the aim that 95% of patients on high risk medicines (NSAIDS, Methotrexate and Amiodarone) will have optimised medicines care by October 2016.

The PrISMS Summit was held at the Innovation Forum on Wednesday 12th October. The afternoon session was a celebration of the programme, which began a year ago in September 2015.

Lights, Camera, Improvement

Telling your improvement story using film to capture and share knowledge! Perfect for clinicians or communications team.

Digital media has revolutionised the way we live our lives, empowering citizens and providing opportunities for gaining new information. This session will be led by Haelo’s Film Unit, who work across all Haelo’s functions to ensure film is at the heart of its work. The Haelo team uses film to set the scene for improvement, capturing patient stories that get to the very heart of the improvements we’re trying to make.
