The deadline to join the next cohort of IS4L, a bespoke training improvement science programme for clinical leaders, has been extended.

As part of Haelo’s internal training programme, Haelo University has been launched for 2017. Our team spent three days dedicated to their learning and developing. The first session took place at the end of January, with a topic focus on building their knowledge, skills and confidence around presenting and coaching, with an emphasis on the Model for Improvement.

From the 14 – 16 November 2017, Haelo Hosts will this year be taking place in the spectacular Quays Theatre, The Lowry, Salford Quays, providing the best seat in the house for every participant. Attendees seeking an innovative and energetic conference will have access to a unique mix of 20 talks from local to international speakers, one of four expert workshops and one awards evening to rival all others. We are delighted to confirm that Alice Webb will be joining our roster of renowned speakers for Haelo Hosts 17! Alice is Director of BBC Children’s and was a driving force in reinventing the BBC for the internet age, helping establish a new collaborative culture that has helped make BBC North the thriving creative centre it is today.

This one day workshop will untangle the web of improvement science, looking to equip delegates with the skills and resources to develop an improvement toolkit.
Expert speakers will include Dr Gareth Parry MSc, PhD, Senior Scientist, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) alongside Haelo’s Chief Executive Professor Maxine Power, Senior Improvement Advisor, Kurt Bramfitt and Lead Analyst, Nick John.
Haelo has been commissioned by the Health Foundation as expert support providers for Innovating for Improvement – Round 5.
We have been entrusted to help support, nourish and advise all teams with their innovation projects. We are committed to the success and development of all 22 teams and look forward to using our expertise across a vast variety of improvement projects. We are looking forward to working with the Health Foundation on this programme.
To celebrate the fantastic work of IS4 teams who went above and beyond in their improvement journey, we caught up with the CMFT Rheumatology team following their improvement project. IS4 is Haelo’s flagship improvement programme, developed and delivered in partnership with the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC), NHS Quest and Manchester Cancer (now part of Greater Manchester Cancer), a bespoke team based training programme in improvement science that includes a blend of web-based learning, improvement coaching and site visits.

Greater Manchester is one of the first regions ready to tackle problematic polypharmacy in primary care. Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network are working in partnership with Haelo to explore how improvement can be achieved for this complex issue.
