Amalgamation of Haelo and AQuA


Following a period of consultation with staff and stakeholder we are pleased to announce that the North West based improvement bodies Haelo and the Advancing Quality Alliance (AQuA) will be joining together as one single entity, operated by AQuA, from April 2019.

Building on the reputation of both organisations for being trusted and respected sources of quality improvement expertise, the respective Boards have agreed that an amalgamation will allow us to meet need for improvement support more effectively.

 Abigail Harrison, Director at Innovation Haelo said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity to bring together two NHS organisations with a shared focus on using improvement methods to enable positive change in health and care. We will continue to work with our partners and customers to deliver bespoke improvement support, tackling complex problems, generating new learning and building improvement capability. Amalgamating with AQuA gives us the opportunity to broaden our offer to the system whilst retaining an innovative approach and enabling us together to be at the forefront of improvement science.”

David Fillingham, Chief Executive of AQuA added:

“This is a great opportunity for both organisations to really develop the breadth and volume of work we are doing. By amalgamating the expertise from both Haelo and AQuA, we are confident that we will continue to thrive and improve the service we provide to our respective members and customers.

Work will continue as usual for both organisations for the remainder of the financial year with the single organisation being fully operational by April 2019.

The Advancing Quality Alliance (AQuA) was formed in 2010, as a NHS health and care quality improvement organisation at the forefront of improving the safety and quality of healthcare. AQuA’s mission is to be a trusted and respected source of quality improvement expertise for the NHS and social care system.
